In its third annual show, "Sweet and Hot", LTOB's Little Ole Big Band
brings back the music that made the 20's roar and the 30's swing. The
good times of the 20's, the decade of "flaming youth", flappers and
bootleg hooch brought us wild dancing and hot jazz. Then, in the hard
times of the 30's, the smoother, more sophisticated sound of swing
helped lift America's spirits. Through it all, an amazingly talented
generation of musicians including Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Fletcher
Henderson, George Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Glenn Miller, Harry James, and
Benny Goodman rose from obscurity to become the titans of American
popular music.
"Sweet and Hot" explores this fascinating musical era with a talented
and historically authentic 9-piece band, and some of the finest singers,
dancers and comedians the Bay Area has to offer. And it is truly
one-of-a-kind. The show's fast-paced blend of early big band music,
singing, dancing and comedy can be found nowhere else in the world!
