Volunteer at

The Little Theatre on the Bay

The Liberty Theater Building has been a part of the North BendCoos Bay community history and quality of life since 1924. Built in the tradition of great vaudeville-movie palaces of the 1920’s and early 30’s the Liberty is a beautiful theatre with a rich link to our past. Since 1959, the Liberty has been the home of the Little Theatre on the Bay, the second oldest community theater organization in the State of Oregon.

Our volunteers play a crucial role in the quality of every performance, as well as affecting every patron’s theatre experience. Besides our performers and backstage workers, every performance utilizes several volunteers in the following areas: ticket-takers, ushers, concessions, and crowd control. By becoming a volunteer, you not only take away from it a great experience, but you also become part of the glue that enables us to continue our traditions.

Volunteer Requirements

Arrival: arrive 75 minutes before show time, usually 6:45 PM or 12:45 PM for Sunday matinees.  All volunteers work under the direction of the House Manager, generally a current or past member of the Board of Directors of LTOB or the Business Manager, as the case may be.

Clean-up: includes all seats in an upright position, trash removed from the floors and bagged.  When appropriate, trash bags are removed from the receptacles and replaced with new.  Full bags are removed from the building to the trash bin on the outside of the building.  Public restrooms are inspected for cleanliness and for inventory of paper goods.  Lobby carpets are vacuumed.

Departure:  The House Manager will excuse volunteers after clean-up is complete.  Most audiences are respectful of the theater and clean-up is finished within 20 minutes of the conclusion of the show.

Generally, volunteers are able to see almost a complete performance, perhaps missing the first two to five minutes of the opening act or of the beginning of any act after any intermission. Our unpaid Helpers find the satisfaction of making an evening at the theater for up to four hundred patrons is its own reward.  Many volunteer not only for every show throughout the season but also for multiple performances of the same show!

Attire: wear appropriate clothing to represent LTOB with the public.  Ripped or torn blue jeans and shower shoes are inappropriate.   Other clothing to be deemed inappropriate is within the judgment of the House Manager or the Business Manager, as the case may be.
